Client Background
Barratt Developments plc recently undertook a massive regeneration project at Upton Gardens. This was a large housing scheme at the former Boleyn Football Ground, which was home to West Ham United Football Club for over 100 years.
Barratt’s regeneration delivered 842 new homes to East London across the 8-acre site with on-site amenities. The scheme also included large communal gardens, tree-lined streets and family play areas. As well as creating a functional shared space, Barratt’s were also keen to celebrate the site’s unique history. Key to their commercial concept was the regeneration of the outdoor spaces to create an aesthetically pleasing environment in keeping with the area’s vibe and history.
The Project
Urban Concepts Ltd manufactured and installed the bespoke seating. The design brief was also enhanced to install bespoke lighting.
The project involved working in collaboration with contractors DF Clarke to ensure all work was carried out to the relevant design and standard. On time and within budget!

On site installation meant all of the items could be measured and fitted in situ. This had the added benefit of producing a seamless installation with the surrounding environment.
"This was a challenging project and we were delighted that we could be involved in providing value engineering for such a prestigious location."
Results
The seating helps to create a multi-layered environment that significantly boosts the desirability and value of the Upton Gardens development.
These outdoor spaces now demonstrate a fantastic communal area for residents and the general public alike to relax, unwind and enjoy the area.
